Don't let violence destroy your future

Onyx Services

Onyx House
Onyx House will be a long term recovery residence NOT a short term hide out.

Conceived after I was unable to find space in a local shelter, when I decided to get out. I was fortunate to have the financial means to stay in a hotel and company paid insurance for recovery therapy. Unfortunately, there are millions of women who do not have those resources.
Most, if not all, government funded shelters only provide 30 day programs. It is virtually impossible to recover from an abusive relationship in 30 days.
Many women and their children, leave with just the clothes on their back. Recovery in this context includes financial planning, child custody, divorce, orders of protection, securing employment, transportation, and permanent housing

The residence, is still in the planning stages, while I try to obtain funding to buy and restore a multi-family building.
Future plans include the following programs and services: Welfare to Work, Recovery Education and Counseling, On Site Day Care, and Legal Assistance.

The program also acts as support group for young women who need recovery assistance, and attempts to pair each participate with an older woman who can provide positive role modeling.

Participation is FREE and confidential.

Support Group

A local support group.  The group is an informal weekly meeting in a safe location. The identify of the group members is confidential. We are currently trying to find certified therapists and speakers to donate their services.

Onyx Publishing has negoiated with several local churches to provide secure meeting facilities.

The program is free, but donations are accepted.
